We all love a summer weekend with perfect weather and no obligations. Since those days are fleeting, we’re inspired to take full advantage of the opportunity. This is an itinerary for that summer’s day in Baltimore, Maryland.
10 am
It wouldn’t be summer without a visit to the pool. Start the day at the upscale Sagamore Pendry pool, or have a casual swim at Patterson Park or Druid Park pools. If you have a car and can go a little farther, there’s also the Beaver Dam Swim Club in Cockeysville.
12 pm
After working up an appetite at the pool, head to a restaurant overlooking the water. A few options are Ampersea and Barcocina in Fells Point, and Little Havana and Nick’s Fish House in Federal Hill. Barcocina is great for margaritas and drink specials, while Nick’s Fish House is the place to go for cracking crabs.
2 pm
Get a break from the heat with ice cream from any of The Charmery or Taharka Brothers‘ locations. Both have creative flavors like Old Bay Caramel and Honey Graham in addition to the classics.
Then, walk it off while enjoying the AC at a museum like the Walters Art Museum, Reginald F. Lewis Museum, or Baltimore Museum of Art.
7 pm
Head to a bar with a view to watch the sunset and enjoy dinner and drinks. For a city view, I’d suggest Topside in Mt. Vernon. Located on the top floor of Hotel Revival, it has an almost 360 degree view, karaoke rooms on the ground floor, and other bars, restaurants, and clubs closeby. Some of my go-to’s are Sugarvale, Bloom’s, The Brewer’s Art, and Owl Bar.
If you prefer a waterfront, head to The Bygone in Harbor East. It has a beautiful view of the harbor and a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights. You can also check out the waterfront bars nearby, like Loch Bar, Ouzo Bay, and Ouzo Beach.
